“Why is golf instruction from Lee Woodard so effective?”  This is a frequent question from our clients.

For 25+ years, Lee was a rocket scientist and developed software/systems to analyze ballistic missile re-entry data and satellite performance data.  He was formally trained/educated to optimize systems and analyze performance data.

Another 7 years were spent as CIO and Sr. VP for Lakeshore Learning Company, where he was trained on learning theory and teaching theory.

After his retirement from the technical arena in 1999, Lee launched his golf career.  He studied all aspects of golf and golf performance.  He was  mentored by current PGA Tour players, instructors, and trainers.

For 10 years, he was by his neighbor, Tom Pernice Jr., everyday that Tom was not traveling.  Lee’s systems approach to golf performance worked as he became better than scratch  ( a plus 1) at age 63!

Lee has done extensive study on change theory, stress reduction, relaxation techniques, and positive psychology.  And he was PGA-trained.

Lee was co-founder and President of a premier mental game company whose client list included Vijay Singh, Hunter Mahan, David Toms, and more.  He left to establish his Zone Golf Academy (in 2006) to teach the golf swing/stroke, the mental game, and golf conditioning.

He was the performance coach for the College of the Desert men’s golf team (the 2012 State Champions) and later coached at El Camino College.

The ZGA can use a network of  master instructors and trainers with the PGA Tour depending on the client’s objectives and budget.

Lee’s golf game has been a challenge in the last 7 years with 6 injuries, 5 major surgeries, and 5 minor surgical procedures.  His golf since 2011 has been pain-filled and restricted with the limitations of the rehab programs.  But those personal challenges have improved his teaching ability, especially with senior golfers.
